In September, 1981, we set out in our Toyota pickup to reach the Arctic Circle. We drove across the Canadian Yukon over the fabled “Alcan Highway”. After 7 days we passed Fairbanks and started north on the oil Pipeline Road. Finally we crossed the Yukon River and then, after driving north another 100 miles, found the sign marking the Arctic Circle. We spent time touring Denali National Park and the Kenai Peninsula. We shortened our drive home by loading the truck on the inland Ferry that took us to the Yellow Jacket Highway to cross the Canadian Rockies.
