001 River highway
Since December, 1988, I have passed through Bangkok three times. The Grand Palce is an amazing collection of Buddhist shrines. The architecture and cultural significance is impressive. Bangkok is a busy city with major traffic congestion. The public transportation is well run. While street vendors can be very aggressive trying to sell you something, for the most part, the city feels safe for the tourist. On one trip we took a train through the country-side to Chang Mai. The canals that cross Bangkok are another interesting attraction. We like staying in the Asia Hotel, centrally located and very reasonable in price.
